Every generation faces the same situation of aging and realizing the world you grew up in and influenced you in your prime years of education and experience to prepare you for the world ahead no longer exists. Many events have also caused the "the world you live in no longer exists" button to keep going off while you're trying to manage and get ahead. But how did you think you would get ahead of time? 

You watch all the young people scramble in their own unique bubble on the timeline and not sure how they manage as you're all treading/floating/drowning in some way or another. 

All the people who have power will not stop having power. On Instagram some years back I observed a man's comment to Greta Thunberg about her anger and despair pleading to the powers to take it seriously the climate crisis. He said he appreciated her fight but it was older than her, things already set in motion before she was even born that she cannot prevent it coming to pass. That she needn’t feel immense pressure and guilt to solve and save it all. He himself was older from what I could tell in his profile picture, so he will not be here for the world that she will have to grow old in. 

The rest of us (mostly) has rescinded to grow old in accepting that it can't really be different, no one cares, and you can never change people. The powers that be do not want a better world and they gladly will destroy the planet to prove that point because they are doing that currently and the all centuries prior. And the voters won't even give it a second thought pulling the lever. Not their problem. Their fate is on some other mythical timeline not tied to together with everyone else's. Young people don't even poll high caring about this issue anymore when it comes to elections. They have given up seeing the psychopaths who have the iron fist of rule who will not change a damn fucking thing.

The disconnect not even unique to Americans. Brazil is on the verge of electing a man who will bulldoze the rainforest even when they thought that was in the past that possibly after they threw out and punished his father. But these evil leader types are zombies ready to come back again and again. Indonesia is destroying its rainforests. Their government is killing off the wildlife. The same wildlife who don't understand why the world they lived in no longer exists.
