Don't let anyone tell you are being alarmist or overreacting. Or the manipulative 'It's always been this way, you were just only now paying attention. You need to sit and make space for your privilege.' What about the non white people chunk Trump bit off, do they get the same prescription that is just a form of neo-liberal white washing and not actual radical left critique? Of course there are the horrors that certain groups existed in that has familiar features right now and yet no one has lived with this particular collision of events before because we live in the 21st century. A very different world than much of the past actually. Why is this so hard to grapple with? Technology, communication, infrastructure, social relations, culture, politics, etc. have transformed greatly. People have to stop being so naive. Or other bad insights and making excuses like 'He will do and say crazy things that's what he does! He'll back off...' yeah back us off all a cliff. Anyway...This is another coup, Part 2 of the first one he didn't get to finish. Also the one the Republicans and their backers have been planning for over forty years. I didn't think the Democratic Party would have much resistance to Trump if he got in, that they would just do a bullshit 'wait and see until the pain sets in' approach because they are the so called adults in the room. However these smart, proper, and good Democrats don't seem to realize that when people feel pain people don't suddenly make rational decisions. The opposite is always at risk of occurring. They could say 'fuck it' and hightail it out of political participation or be so frazzled, scared, they actually double down. Even if Trump will cause much pain, it's' not a guarantee people are going to magically snap out of the spell and rush for the Democrats to remedy their misery in the midterms. When people are in pain they are not their best critical thinking selves they are upset, angry, vulnerable and lash out. Hello have you seen the last few years? How do you think Trump got back in? Man if only the opposing party was an actual opposition one. At least people who I thought were wrongly worrying themselves in believing that Trump would be able to transform himself politically into some triumphant popular figure have nothing to worry about now.
